Canadian Journal of Cardiology Publishes Abstract of Study Assessing the Accuracy of the Apollo aEDC System in Extracting Clinical Characteristics of Heart Failure Patients

Ensho Health today announced that an abstract ↗︎ validating the Apollo automated electronic data capture ("aEDC") system for Cardiology real world evidence has been published in the Canadian Journal of Cardiology.

The study evaluated the accuracy of Apollo in extracting echocardiographic measurements and heart failure medications in consecutive patients with heart failure. Data extracted by Apollo were reviewed manually and compared with source electronic health records.

Highlights include:

  • Apollo was used to extract estimated left ventricular ejection fraction ("LVEF") and heart failure medications from the de-identified electronic health records of 25 consecutive patients that visited an outpatient cardiology practice in November of 2020
  • The accuracy of LVEF and LVEF estimation methods was 100% while prescribed medications were reported correctly 98.5% (67/68) of the time
  • Apollo extracted complex data from the electronic medical record database of a cardiology practice with high fidelity and is a promising tool to facilitate real world cardiology studies
